Citizen guitars are made for worship. We hope to encourage believers and glorify God in all we do.

Our luthiers have 20+ years of experience each and are equipped with everything they need to produce guitars to the highest quality standard.

Collectively, we've built thousands of guitars for a variety of customers ranging from hobbyists to Grammy and Dove Award winning artists, producers and songwriters.

Since 2004, our team has been continuously working together in the guitar business and we've shipped to over 40 countries around the world. 

We perform all final fret work, setup adjustments and final QC at our shop in Cupertino, California to ensure every guitar performs its best upon delivery to you.

Many companies are named after a founder. Not ours. Instead, the name Citizen is meant to remind and encourage each player of their identity in Christ, the Gospel and their eternal home in heaven.

The reference verse for "Citizen" is Philippians 3:20, "For our citizenship is in heaven, from which we also eagerly wait for the Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ."

Citizen was founded in 2019, but our co-founder, Jeff Lee, has been working professionally in the guitar business since 2004.

We are a Christian-led company. Our co-founders, Jeff and Christine Lee, are both born again, committed members of their local church in Palo Alto, California. Jeff serves as the worship leader and as a small group leader. Christine serves in the children's ministry.

All Citizen guitars (including custom, commissioned builds) are made from scratch at the Citizen factory located in China. Once the guitars arrive at our California shop, we perform the final component assembly, final fret work, final setup adjustments, and final QC checks to ensure the guitars perform their best upon delivery to you.

We hand select from only the finest tone woods available. This includes common tone woods such as Mahogany, Maple, Alder, Ash, Rosewood, Ebony, but also more exotic/rare tone woods such as Figured Maple, Ziricote, Wenge, Bubinga, Pale Moon Ebony, Koa, and more.

It depends on the price point. We use Korean-made hardware at the lower end and brands like Bigsby, Mastery, Gotoh, Hipshot, etc. on the higher end.

It depends on the price point. Our Citizen pickups are Korean-made and meant for the lower price point, whereas brands like Seymour Duncan, Lollar, Lambertones, TV Jones, etc. are meant for the higher price points.

Because production models are made/assembled to order, the lead time is 1-4 months depending on model. Last updated: 10/30/2024

We offer a hassle-free return policy. Just let us know within seven business days of receiving the guitar and you can send it back for a refund.
