Citizen Kids! Production Update
The design has been finalized and we started making the bodies and necks!
Here are some in-progress production photos:
We still need to finalize the color options. But we know that "Space Blue" is going to be one of the colors, because that's our son's favorite color, so we gotta make that happen!

Some spec stuff that makes me happy
LOCKING TUNERS
Why? Because the goal is to make a JOYFUL sound to the Lord, and a guitar that stays in tune better is going to help with that. Also, I'm anticipating most parents are going to be somewhat unfamiliar with string changes, so locking tuners make string changes WAY easier and faster.
TUNER COVERS (FINGER PROTECTORS)
Why? Because those sharp string ends that protrude from the tuners are like needles. If you've been around guitars enough... you've already experienced getting pricked by those string ends. For adults, it's not that bad, but for young kids... we just want to avoid that from happening to them and their siblings who will inevitably want to grab and touch at the headstock. The tuner covers/protectors are rubber and easily press onto the tuner shaft.
QUALITY ELECTRONICS
The volume knob and output jack are going to get a lot of use and need to be bullet proof, so we're going with quality electronics - CTS for the volume pot and Switchcraft for the output jack. Don't want to skimp on these components because the cheap stuff is noisy and prone to fail, which will be a chore for busy parents to figure out how to get repaired.
NECK PICKUP
I envision my son strumming the guitar very loudly and knew that a bridge pickup would be really bright, shrill and unpleasant sounding. Whereas a neck pickup would be much warmer and fuller, like a jazz guitar, for example. Now, he's still going to strum away, but at least it will be a little easier on my ears! If you notice the drawing of the kids guitar at the top of the page, the body has a "swimming pool" rout, which makes it easier to add additional pickups if you really wanted to, but it was also for weight relief.
That's all for now, thanks for reading!
